About
The Next Generation
By The Editors
The editors of Men's Health and Women's Health have spent years teaching our readers how to improve their lives and the lives of the people they love. So when our editorial teams got together to create a joint project, the result could be only one thing: Children's Health. We brought all of our knowledge, talents, and resources into this magazine—heck, we even test-drove diapers at our company's daycare center! And yeah, we're pretty darn proud of the results.
We're prouder still of the fact that the First Mom of the United States, Michelle Obama, saw this project as important enough to lend her time and energy to. As her husband fights to reform America's healthcare system and for the right of all American children to have access to the best care, Mrs. Obama is leading a different kind of crusade: one that emphasizes the personal responsibility parents have over their children's health and nutrition.
That message arrives just in time to help a new generation of parents raise a new generation of children. Parenting has always been a delicate balance between old-fashioned values and a willingness to adjust to a rapidly changing new world. And my, how quickly our children's lives have changed: Just five years ago, most of us had never heard of Facebook; kids talked on phones instead of just texting on them; and the idea of a young woman or a non-Caucasian child growing up to become president was the stuff of dreams, not reality.
Today is so very different from yesterday, and no one knows what tomorrow will bring. The only thing we do know is that our kids will still need us to be there for them, and that somehow, some way, we'll figure out how to rise to the challenge. We hope you'll agree that Children's Health is exactly the kind of resource that can help.
